Meet the founder
Hey, I’m Travin Tan.
I’m happiest when I’m hiking, camping and exploring the outdoors. For me, food has always been one of the best parts of every adventure. After hours on the trail, nothing feels better than sitting down to a warm meal surrounded by nature.
But the more time I spent outdoors, the more I realised that every gram matters when it’s on your back.
That became especially clear during my 2019 expedition to Gunung Tahan, the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia. I couldn’t find an outdoor meal that was lightweight enough to carry, nutritious enough to keep me going and comforting after a long day on the trail. At the time, freeze-dried outdoor meals weren’t readily available in Malaysia.
That experience inspired me to create my own.
And that’s how MOOVIN OUTDOOR MEALS began: lightweight, freeze-dried trail meals made with quality ingredients and locally inspired flavours, bringing balanced nutrition and the comfort of home wherever your adventure takes you.

What are freeze-dried meals?
Freeze-drying removes almost all the water from freshly cooked food using very low temperatures and a vacuum. The result is a lightweight, shelf-stable meal that quickly returns to its original texture when hot water is added.
Why choose freeze-dried meals?
Freeze-drying removes moisture at low temperatures, helping to preserve the food’s flavour, texture, colour and nutrients while keeping it lightweight and shelf-stable. Simply add hot water to rehydrate and enjoy a warm, comforting meal wherever your adventure takes you.
Why do freeze-dried meals cost more?
Freeze-drying is a slower and more energy-intensive process than traditional drying methods. At MOOVIN, every meal is handcrafted in small batches using real ingredients, so each pack takes time and care to produce.
Where are MOOVIN OUTDOOR MEALS made?
MOOVIN OUTDOOR MEALS are proudly made in Ipoh, Malaysia, in small batches using carefully selected ingredients.
How do I prepare a MOOVIN OUTDOOR MEALS?
It’s super simple:
1. Open the pouch and remove the oxygen absorber.
2. Add the recommended amount of boiling water.
3. Stir well, seal the pouch, and wait 10-12 minutes.
4. Stir again and enjoy a warm, home-style meal.
Do I need to bring a bowl or plate?
No! Every MOOVIN pouch is heat-safe and designed to stand upright, so you can simply add hot water and eat straight from the pouch. Less gear, no dishes, and easy cleanup. When you're done, reseal the pouch and carry it with you until you find a proper rubbish bin. Pack it in. Pack it out.
Can I use ambient-temperature water if I don't have hot water?
Yes! While hot water gives you that warm, comforting experience after a long day, you can rehydrate our meals with ambient-temperature water. Just give it extra time to soak through completely.
How long is the shelf life?
Unopened, MOOVIN OUTDOOR MEALS have a shelf life of 12–24 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Our freeze-drying process removes over 98% of the moisture, allowing the meals to stay shelf-stable without refrigeration or artificial preservatives.
Are MOOVIN outdoor meals Halal?
Not at the moment. MOOVIN OUTDOOR MEALS is currently produced in a small home kitchen in Ipoh and is not Halal-certified. While some meals may not contain pork or alcohol, we cannot label them as Halal.
Do your meals contain allergens?
Yes. Our meals may contain peanuts, sesame, soy, wheat, and shellfish. Please check the ingredient list before ordering. If you have severe allergies, we recommend not consuming our meals due to possible cross-contact during preparation.
Are the meals suitable for outdoor only?
Not at all! MOOVIN OUTDOOR MEALS are perfect for hiking, camping, travelling, road trips, busy workdays, or anytime you want a quick and nutritious meal.
How long will my order take?
Our meals are produced in small batches, so please allow a lead time of up to two weeks before your order is shipped. Delivery time begins after dispatch and varies depending on your location.
